Passage began by acknowledging existing problem within the hospice and palliative care industries, with a statement that our current death experience is fragmented. We acknowledge the need for more open conversations and advanced planning for death and dying in our society to allow for the better end-of life experiences.
Passage creates a new spatial typology of an information hub by acting as a connector and a showroom with a purpose of initiating user-centered design for patients and their caregivers. Passage would exist across several different domains, as an open database and a virtual resource bank through the website design and as hospice hubs at various locations across the country. The hubs would exhibit multiple design configurations tailored for different patient needs, allowing patients, caregivers, as well as existing hospices to explore and curate a space that is best-suited for what they want. The primary vision for passage is to act as an information hub bridging the current gap between inpatient hospice and at home care.

The goal for passage is to provide user-oriented design, intimacy, and personalized care services to fit both medical and psychological needs of the patients, curating their end-of-life journey as a joint partner. Therefore, passage includes patients, caregivers, hospices, death doulas, insurers, hospitals, and medical innovation centers to be its potential stakeholders.
